Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Ember Dock ("we", "us") handles information when you use EmberCancel, our Shopify app that connects your store with ShipBob for customer-driven order cancellations.

What we collect

We keep the minimum needed to run the app:

  • Shop domain — to identify your store and settings.
  • Shopify order IDs — to match cancellations with the correct orders.
  • ShipBob order IDs — when we resolve or store the linked fulfilment record.
  • Cancellation tokens — secure links with expiry times so customers can cancel within your rules.
  • Cancellation logs — action taken, result summaries (e.g. from ShipBob or Shopify), and timestamps for your dashboard and support.

Your ShipBob Personal Access Token is stored securely, per shop, in our database and is only used to call ShipBob on your behalf. Access to our database is restricted and protected by authentication credentials.

Why we use it

We process this information to handle order cancellations between Shopify and ShipBob: verify shipment status, cancel in ShipBob when allowed, cancel and refund in Shopify where configured, and show you activity in the app.

How long we keep it

We retain app data while the app is installed. If you uninstall EmberCancel, we delete associated app data in line with Shopify's shop data erasure process. Short-lived backups may persist for a limited time under our host's normal rotation, then are removed.

Third parties

We send order-related data to the ShipBob API only when needed to check status and cancel orders in your ShipBob account. We don't sell personal information. The app runs on Shopify; order updates you trigger use Shopify's APIs as part of your store.

GDPR and Shopify compliance

We respond to customer data requests, customer erasure, and shop erasure through Shopify's mandatory webhooks and related platform tools, as required for app developers.

Your rights

You may request access or deletion of information we hold in connection with the app by emailing privacy@emberdock.io. If you're a shopper, contacting the store directly is often fastest; we'll work with Shopify's processes where they apply.

Cookies

We don't use tracking or analytics cookies on this policy page. In the Shopify admin and checkout, only Shopify's required session cookies apply as part of the platform — not extra tracking cookies from us.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app or laws evolve. When we do, we'll revise the effective date at the top of this page.
